Meet the Faculty

Steve Vasold, Principal

Principal Vasold was born in Columbus, WI but spent most of his childhood in Saginaw, MI. He graduated from Michigan Lutheran Seminary in 1996.

He then went on to Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Education with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Social Studies.

Steve has taught a wide range of subjects and grade levels. He served as high school religion and science teacher at Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School in New Ulm, MN. Steve also taught high school science, physical education, and English at Luther Preparatory School in Watertown, WI. He then moved to Houston and has served as principal and uppergrade teacher at Christ the Lord Lutheran School from 2004-2012.

Steve loves his work at Sienna Lutheran Academy! His prayer is that SLA will be a blessing to the families of Sienna Plantation by providing children with an excellent education within a loving, Christ-centered environment.

Steve enjoys spending time with his family, reading, and playing a variety of sports. He is married and has four children.

Mr. Brett Bengel

Mr. Bengel grew up in Menasha, WI and attended Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN.  He graduated in December, 2007, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and soon after began serving as the 5th-6th grade teacher at St. Paul’s Lutheran School, in Rapid City, SD. During his time at St. Paul’s,Brett has taught different combinations of 4th-6th grade. Brett’s additional responsibilities included athletic director and middle school boys’ basketball coach. Brett’s duties at Sienna Lutheran Academy will include teaching in the middle school grades and assisting with administration duties.

Brett and his wife, Adrienne, were married in Denver, CO in June 2007. They both enjoy spending time with their children, teaching, and the great outdoors. Brett’s hobbies also include coaching, playing, and watching sports. His greatest joy of teaching is sharing God’s Word with your children every day!

Mrs. Katie Coudron

Mrs. Coudron was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  She attended Wisconsin Lutheran High School before receiving her bachelor of education degree from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. After graduating from college, Katie taught as an emergency preschool teacher at a small school in Balaton, MN.

Katie moved to Houston, with her husband, Cody, in 2006.  For five years she enjoyed teaching Jesus’ little lambs at Christ the Lord Lutheran School in Alief.  She enjoys hearing and seeing the love that little children have for their Savior! Katie also enjoys instilling a love of reading in each child and looks forward to seeing the academic growth that each individual child has.

Katie has been married to her husband Cody since 2006.  She and her husband have been blessed with two children, Annabelle and Owen. She loves to spend time with her active family.  She also loves to read, travel, play piano, and shop!

Ms. Amanda Fogle

Amanda Fogle grew up in Oakdale, MN and attended Christ Lutheran Grade School. She then graduated from Saint Croix Lutheran High School and moved on to Martin Luther College. Amanda graduated from Martin Luther College in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a minor in Social Studies. This will be Amanda’s first year of teaching, and she will be working with the 2nd grade at Sienna Lutheran Academy.

Amanda is excited to become part of the SLA faculty and help the children in her classroom grow academically and spiritually. She enjoys helping children succeed in and outside of the classroom. Besides teaching, Amanda’s favorite pastimes include reading, playing sports, and spending time with friends and family. She cannot wait to share the Word of God with the children in her classroom!

Mrs. Brandi Bivens

Mrs. Bivens was born in Bay City, MI and holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Martin Luther College (1999).  After receiving her degree, Brandi served as the director and lead teacher for Zebaoth Learning Center in Milwaukee, WI. Over the years, she has also served as a primary grade teacher in schools located in Salt Lake City, UT and Milwaukee, WI. Recently, Brandi has been active coordinating a Mother’s Day Out program.

Before arriving in Texas, Brandi lived in the south of Brazil for six years where she became fluent in Portuguese. Her time in Brazil also allowed her the opportunity to teach a wide variety of students EFL (English as a Foreign Language) classes.

Brandi is married to Pastor David Bivens and the mother of three daughters.

Ms. Anne Jeffery

Anne Jeffery grew up in San Diego, CA. She attended Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran School, graduated from West Hills High School in Santee,CA, and went to San Diego State University for a year and a half before transferring to Martin Luther College where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Education in 2013. Anne is the 1st grade home room teacher and will be teaching the 3rd-4th graders in the afternoon at Sienna Lutheran Academy.

Anne enjoys helping each individual child grow during their learning journey. Her experience attending both private and public schools fuels her desire to create a spiritual foundation and a strong academic background for each child. Anne also enjoys hiking, reading, and keeping in touch with family and friends.
